Casey Grammar School

Casey Grammar School

Casey Grammar School, an ecumenical co-educational school, is managed by a Board. It is supported by a Consultative Committee. These two bodies are composed of representatives from Uniting, Salvation Army and Anglican Churches, parents and individuals with special expertise. It is a registered limited liability company.

An interim committee established the School in 1994 with the vision of providing a Christian school that was affordable and aims to excel in education for Cranbourne’s families. The school started with 57 students in Foundation through Year 6, and then added Secondary classes in 1996. From Foundation through Year 12, there are now over 800 students enrolled.

The school logo represents the Christian heritage and foundation. The symbol of the Holy Spirit, the small flames, is a symbol from the time of Pentecost. While the symbol for Christ the Risen Lord, the symbol of ‘Chrismon’ is an ancient symbol that represents Christ’s Christian heritage and foundation. Its origins date back to Roman times. The school motto, “One in the Spirit”, is also included on the logo. This reinforces the power and ability of the Holy Spirit for unifying their community and bringing them together.

Independent Schools Victoria is the School’s founding member. It is also a founding member of Victorian Ecumenical System of Schools, which is now Ecumenical Schools Australian.

Ecumenical Schools Australia (ESA) is a network of independent co-educational schools that are diverse in size, location, and faith. They work together to promote richness in education. There are currently 18 members who educate more than 17,700 students in 2019. Ecumenical schools Australia members are mainly located in the outer suburbs and regional centers. Each has its unique characteristics and values.

They are united by their shared commitment to respecting each other’s uniqueness and working together to improve the education of their students. Ecumenical Schools Australia members are open to the differences in profile and strategic direction. They also encourage valuable collaboration among schools. The result is a vibrant, open-minded educational community.

The diversity of faith practice is remarkable. While there are many Christian denominations represented, some schools don’t have a formal affiliation. However, they all share a fundamental Christian ethos. Ecumenical Schools Australia aims to improve equity and access educational opportunities, while fostering excellence in student outcomes at its member schools through its activities.
